PageRank is all about links. The more links (and the better quality they are) the higher your PR will go. If you need ideas on how to get more backlinks, this article is a good place to start:

Also, PR only updates about once a quarter so you may indeed have higher PR and you just can’t see it yet!

Written by adminI tried this for a while searching for sites, forums, blogs that I could post backlinks, and it’s harder then it seems. Why don’t you get more credit for what you do? It seems like you would have to have a high tolerance of patience. Trying to find places that match your keywords and trying to post a link there. Is there a repository or list of sites that you know are open to add links? Half the time you register for a site and realize there are NOFOLLOW or HTML has been turned off or they require 10 or more posts before allowing a link. This job is not for the faint of heart. When you first started what were you averaging a day or hour?
If you’re going for good, quality links, then one or two a day is sufficient to make good progress.
If you’re going spammy (SOOO not recommended), look up some automation software that will do it for you. You can get thousands of "backlinks" a day – and what’s even better, if you’re persistent enough at it you can get your site completely banned from the major search engines. Pardon the sarcasm.
One or two good ones is sufficient. But you didn’t ask *how* so I guess you’re doing fine. Create a great weekend!

Google as well as most of the major search engines have a detailed algorithm for both, rewarding good content pages and penalize cheating pages.
However SEO marketers know the science of showing their pages good in the eye of Google ( or other search engines) so that ranks better and better in it every time.
But Google always emphasize on getting good pages on top so it constantly keeps on retarding ranks of pages which it finds not as good as it thought is earlier or is trying to fool google by Black Hat methods. some of those methods may be.
1. Purchasing Back links – Google has an algorithm for detecting purchased back links, if it finds your sites buying or selling back links FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAGE RANK INCREASING, It may penalize both. However they dont mind if you buy or sell back links only to flow traffic ( this is done by adding a no follow tag in the links ).
One way to detect purchased back links is irrelevant link. for example a link of football accessories shop on career counseling website is most probably purchased.
One other way to detect bought back links is anchor text. If same anchor text is found on back link of a site many places. It is probably an advertising campaign.
2. Copying Content – If google detects that your content is copied from somewhere which if thought was original earlier, it instantly drops its Page Rank
3. All other Black Hat SEO methods which emphasize on ways to increase pagerank rather than improving the quality of the content.
*Sometimes google not only drops or resets the pagerank ( and hence the traffic from google also ) but in few cases when it finds the extremity of cheating,it completely blocks the whole website from Google giving lead to ZERO search engine traffic.
The only advice is to always emphasize on Good content and then on White Hat SEO methods. You can take my help also.
For SEO, should I optimize every page of the web in order for homepage to rank high?
Written by adminI want to optimize my web pages so that our homepage will rank high in Google!. Many of our web pages require password to log in. If I only want the homepage to rank high, can I just optimize 10 or 20 pages that have meaningful content, or I should optimize 100+ web pages? Among those 100+ web pages, some of them are just sign in page, forgot password page.

To achieve rankings on desired pages, you do not need to optimize all pages of a site. In fact, it’s better to have a few highly optimized pages than many pages with mediocre or no optimization whatsoever.
As I am sure you know, there are many factors that drive the rankings within organic search results–including page content, meta instructions, external links to your site, etc. Focusing upon and providing valuable content is the best starting place.
One point you may want to consider is deflecting the search engines from the pages that require username/passwords. This can be easily accomplished using a robot.txt file or including <meta name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow, noarchive" /> in the username/password protected pages.

Each web page has it’s own unique Pagerank, the way Pagerank is gained is by backlinks to your web pages from off-site backlinks.
Yes, internal linking does distribute Pagerank, the issue is it divided up just the same as with outbound links, so if you have 5 internal links and 5 out bound links on one web page your passing on in theory only 1\10 of the possible value you can.
Now, if Pagerank is divided up different via internal links and out bound links is something only the Google engineers would know and keep secret to prevent abuse. You best bet is to build backlinks to all your web pages, using proper anchor text to help your SERPs as well.
